That’s why most people avoid installing this type of roof unless they’re dealing with a historic house. A wood roof is expensive and requires extra skill to install. The main difference between shingles and shakes is that shakes are split from the log and have a rough, random texture shingles have a smoother surface because they’re sawed. These evergreens produce wood that is dimensionally stable and naturally resistant to rot and insect attack. Wood shingles and shakes usually come from red cedar, Alaskan yellow cedar, or Eastern white cedar. Wood shingles and shake roofs are beautiful, but expect more maintenance compared to an asphalt roof. Premium grades of “laminated” asphalt fiberglass shingles are typically warrantied for 50 years. These shingles are the most popular type of roofing for sloped roofs because they’re affordable, easy to install, durable, and available in a wide variety of colors. The fiberglass mat embedded in the shingle provides an extra measure of strength and tear resistance. Manufacturers have created asphalt shingles that imitate the look of wood and slate.Īlthough these terms are used interchangeably, most roof shingles used today are technically known as asphalt fiberglass shingles. Once a week I like to get in there with a toothbrush and clean in the container so you don’t get buildup. It’s really safe - with larger machines, it’s a little harder to get down there. Now, I’m traveling with the S30.įinally, it’s so easy to clean because you can disassemble the blade. My dad actually made me a little Vitamix carrier because I used to take it everywhere. Also, it’s really brilliant for blending small quantities, which can be an issue with other models, like the 750 machine. And it’s less intimidating than the larger machines. This machine is very manageable - it’s fantastic for children or college students or people with small spaces. Personally, I never use pre-programmed settings because nobody knows the exact ingredients that are going into my machine! There are no pre-programmed settings, so you have complete control with the speed dial. The beauty of the tamper is you can completely control your blend while the machine is running - you don’t have to stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula. The tamper is what sets the Vitamix ahead of other blenders, so for me, it is fantastic. container - it replicates the experience of the larger machines, with a tamper. container doubles as a to-go cup, and I love that there’s the larger 40-oz. It’s amazing! I love that there’s finally a personal blender with the power of a larger machine. Tell us about your experience using the Vitamix S30. Plus, scroll down for recipes from her cookbook, adapted for the S30! Here, we ask Tess all about her experience with the personal blender, tips for new users, and what she’s mixing up now. For inspiration on new ways to use it, we turned to one of our favorite blending experts: Tess Masters, blogger and author of the new book The Blender Girl. We’re loving the new Vitamix S30, which has all the power we expect from a Vitamix blender but is sized for small batches and priced under $400. Phasma was from the planet Parnassos, a hard mining community planet. Phasma's story was fleshed out in expanded stories. There is no background in the films that relate to Phasma. There is no magic moment where she is resurrected somehow and appears in the final film of the series. Phasma doesn't have Force powers and isn't able to probably save herself. Captain Phasma's helmet breaks but it doesn't reveal her face, only her eye. There are a few more females on the First Order side but none are as iconic as Phasma. Her escape from near death isn't for long before she falls again and dies in an explosion.Ĭaptain Phasma is still not shown without her helmet off. Phasma falls to her apparent death but appears to survive. Finn gets to face off against Phasma once more. The Last JediĬaptain Phasma appears briefly when Finn and Rose Tico sneak into Supreme Leader Snokes space ship to deactivate the tracking device that is preventing the Resistance from escaping the First Order. Phasma, a human female stormtrooper captain of the First Order, grew up as a member of the Scyre clan on the nuclear-ravaged world of Parnassos, where she became a formidable warrior, eventually becoming the clans military leader. Her survival is unclear as to her future. The last we see of Phasma is when she is forced by Finn and Han Solo to drop the shields so that The Rebel Alliance squadron led by Poe Dameron can attack and destroy the Starkiller Base. When he confronts her on Starkiller base, he and Han Solo make her give the information that they are after so that they can rescue Rey and disable the planets defences. Phasma is Finn's commanding officer and he really dislikes her. She thought it was better to not see the character face and not to judge her on what she looked like but to judge her on her actions. In an interview, Gwendoline Christies confronted this and responded. A future film should she appear in will probably see her without her helmet. As we didn't see Phasma without her helmet, it created a bit of discussion and argument on the internet. She is the commanding officer for Finn who admonishes him for taking off his helmet when Stormtroopers are not allowed to do so. It just kind of depended on what piece it was and how bad the damage was.You don't get to see Captain Phasma without her helmet off in the film so it is a little disappointing to to have a "groundbreaking" character and not to actually see her face. The armor I filled with a mix of Apoxie Sculpt, Bondo Filler, Flex Filler, Worbla. Yeah sand it as smooth as you can get it, filler primer, sand some more, fill any dings and pits that you can't smooth out with wet sand with bondo glazing putty, sand, plain primer, sand, filler primer, etc. What did you do with the little dimples that were around the armor and helmet? Sand it down to smooth or put in a bondo/filler?Īwesome! She was working on mine last week so hopefully soon thatll be here. So ill end up getting out the palm sander. But seems like everyone on this thread says do it lol. Dont have any experience with it and ibheard from someone you want to be super carefull with the front sanding and exposing the fibers. Got the rubberized version too.Īnd its not necesarrily wary of the tool itself, ive sanded down car parts and stuff. If you're nervous about the power tools, maybe give it a whirl on the inside of say, the back or chest piece? That's what I did, so I could get used to how it felt and how it moved.Awesome! She was working on mine last week so hopefully soon thatll be here. And hers look amazing so I didn't have any problem getting one. I'm a decent seamstress but there's no way I'd be able to knock that cape out on my own. I'm getting my cape from Jessica this week! So stoked! Jim's kit is absolutely amazing and so easy to work with. I get a better feel with armor and with what I'm doing. But for me at the moment I really like being able to just hand sand. And I thought about the hand sander, I have a few. Great groups of people who can help and there's a few of the metalized kits in the Phasma page. Are you on Facebook? If so, check out the Captain Phasma Costumers build page and Jim's build page. Most people don't have the budget for that so paint it is! Which has its own troubles. I've seen a few vacuum metalized kits-not many. It'll save your hands and save you on time. I'd invest in a good electric palm sander. The kit is going to need a lot of prep-I've been working on it since July and just got done painting the black undercoat and there's a couple pieces where I can see where I didn't do a good enough job on them. I'm painting it so not sure about the metalizing. Lookups are presented in Power BI Desktop as two columns, lookupid and lookupid-name. Lookup columns use a many-to-one (N:1) table relationship between the table you’re working with and the target row type defined for the lookup. For more information about the Dataverse data types not supported with the Dataverse connector, see Supported operations and data types. The item label name columns aren't returned. When you use the Dataverse connector with choices columns, you only receive the integer values, which are comma separated. Choices aren't currently fully supported with the Dataverse connector. Choices columnsĬhoices are similar to choice columns with the difference being that users can select multiple items from the list. Note that, this join and doing filters against the label name column, rather than the value column, can significantly impact report query performance. This is executed for each label/name column. When retrieving the label name for a choice column, Dataverse makes a join with the internal stringmap table (where localized labels are stored). Performance impact and choice name columns approvalstatus can help when you apply filters so the filters will not be impacted when you make future changes to the display name.Īpprovalstatusname - This will show the friendly display name of the item and is most commonly used when presenting the option in a table or chart. When using the Dataverse connector, choice columns will be presented as two columns to show both the unique value, and the display item value.įor example, if you had a choice column on your table called approvalstatus, you would see two columns in Power BI:Īpprovalstatus - This will show a unique integer value for each item in your choice. Thief of Hearts was the directorial debut of Douglas Day Stewart, who just a couple of years earlier had scripted An Officer and a Gentleman, and was essentially a gamble - a good one, but still a gamble. What is the significance of these speculations? Again, Beverly Hills Cop and Top Gun still would have happened, but there would have been other safer films before them, and at least one film that materialized to meet very particular studio expectations. I think that it is very possible that studio execs would have influenced Simpson and Bruckheimer's future decisions and ultimately forced them to explore different projects. ( Thief of Hearts was the first of five films the duo's production company was contracted to deliver to the major studio). Now, it is very possible that around the same time Days of Thunder and Bad Boys were released Simpson and Bruckheimer would have been involved with smaller films, but the latter would have ensured that the genre identity of these fictional films would have remained awfully similar.īut a part of me is also willing to speculate that the arrival of another similar but slightly less convincing film after Thief of Hearts could have produced some pretty unexpected ripple effects that would have seriously complicated the new business arrangement between Simpson, Bruckheimer and Paramount. Simpson almost never disagreed with Bruckheimer and the two had a very strong bond, so it is fair to speculate that he would have been right there with him as well. Bruckheimer in particular had a very specific vision of what a good film was supposed to look like which remained pretty consistent over the years, so for him the road forward should have remained the same. Is it possible that the resumes of Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer might have looked drastically different had they produced one more film like Thief of Hearts? This is a very interesting question, so let's do a bit of speculating.Ī part of me is convinced that Beverly Hills Cop and Top Gun were meant to happen, so even if Simpson and Bruckheimer had become involved with another film like Thief of Hearts the progression of their careers would not have changed much. They make their kill, and they keep hunting. "When he gets in that zone, he's just such a killer," Heat forward Kevin Love said. Milwaukee exhausted its options defensively to try to slow Butler down, but he scored against seven different primary defenders, which included hitting 16 of 21 (76%) contested shots, per ESPN Stats & Info data. Butler followed that up with 32 points in the second half, including 21 points in the fourth quarter to pull off the massive comeback. He scored 22 of Miami's 28 first-quarter points, including a streak of 20 in a row during the final six minutes of the period. However, Butler set the tone for Miami from the opening tip. The Heat entered the game short-handed after injuries to guards Tyler Herro (hand) and Victor Oladipo (knee) depleted their backcourt depth through the series. "And then it always helps to have a guy like him." It just shows you that when you have the right grit and perseverance, you can win," Spoelstra said. "For 40 minutes of this game, it was frustrating. In Game 4, the Bucks were 1-of-8 (13%) when Butler contested their shot, according to research by ESPN Stats & Information. In clutch time - the last five minutes of the game when the score is within five points - Butler outscored the Bucks alone 13-8.īutler also turned up the intensity defensively. Miami went 8-for-9 from the field from that point, while Butler scored or assisted on 22 of the final 30 points. The Heat took a 3-1 series lead on the performance from Butler, who set a career high in scoring in the regular season or playoffs and put up the first 50-point playoff game since Giannis Antetokounmpo in Game 6 of the 2021 NBA Finals. Butler matched the fourth-best scoring performance in an NBA playoff game to lead the Heat back from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit, stun the Bucks and push the NBA's top overall seed to the brink of elimination. Yet, Butler's 56-point masterpiece is making it impossible to deny his playoff excellence. "It's not a thing," he said with a laugh following the Miami Heat's 119-114 win over the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference first-round series. But the conversations sparked by those clickbait articles - like how people understand each other - were real. RASCOE: Now, a lot of young people online say they aren't that bothered by the thumbs-up emoji. They're always generating new expressions and new words and new ways of speaking to distinguish themselves in opposition to other groups that are perceived as being out of it or square, as we used to say back in the day. HERRING: It's characteristic of what young people do with language. RASCOE: Emojis are a part of modern language, and they can mean many things to many people all at once. HERRING: I think the battle here is really about the connotations of the emoji, the pragmatic meanings. She's a linguistics professor at Indiana University who specializes in digital communication. So, yeah, laughing to death, right? That's a great example. So now they need something that has a stronger impact, that's more outrageous or more over-the-top. SUSAN HERRING: So it's been bleached of its impact. Like, the skull face and the actually, like, sobbing emoji I feel just have more personality than just, like, haha. It doesn't feel as expressive as other things you can use. RASCOE: His daughter hates the thumbs-up, and she thinks the crying laughing emoji is weak. There's, like - there's an additional layer of kind of, like, sarcasm. It's very, like, straight, the way that I interpret it. And for me, like, the grimacing face just means, like, urgh, something bad is happening. JONAS DOWNEY: We sort of take it for granted thumbs-up means thumbs-up. Elder millennial Jonas Downey read one of the articles and decided to see if his 13-year-old daughter's interpretation of certain emojis differed from his. We may be victims of clickbait intended to stir up dissension between young and old, left and right, after someone dug up an old Reddit thread and presented it as gospel last week. So you may have heard the thumbs-up emoji is dead, as in not cool - don't do it. So today is one of the days I definitely should've looked. In fact, you can't see them all at a glance. The tunnel vision is a product of solving on screen as opposed to paper-much harder to see *all* the clues. That is, I have this tunnel vision when I'm solving, as well as a bad habit of not even looking at longer clues until I have some crosses. In retrospect, I could've done so much better if I'd just looked around. Now I'll get to the less pleasant thing that the puzzle was: humiliating. So in addition to being brilliant, this puzzle was very surprising. This kind of top-shelf thematic hot sauce? No. I'm used to seeing crisp and clean but relatively straightforward themeless puzzles from Natan and the JASA crew. EGO checking ID = IMPULSE CONTROL = a wild idea you might have, but executing it? Here's part of a subreddit entitled "Worst Drug Brand Name" (which I lifted from this article on weird prescription drug names in Philadelphia magazine): If you think OREOCONE is a silly name for a prescription drug, brother, you haven't been anywhere near the pharmaceutical ad universe. Have I not seen a pharmaceutical ad for an eczema treatment called OREOCONE? Seems plausible. Is the cone made of Oreo? Is there an entire frozen dessert product called the OREOCONE? The more you look at it, the more it looks like a steroid. All I know is that once again, as with 1-Across, the puzzle is back to trying to get its "relevance" and "currency" from corporations-in this case, by just mining every damn product in the OREO line. And as for OREOCONE, I have no idea what that even is. I mean, it's a cute coincidence, but that's all it is. Loved seeing POMODORO, but OLIVEOIL is the equivalent of EPEE where eight-letter answers are concerned, so I don't know that the corner is really elevated by pretending that you meant for those two answers to be thematically complementary. It tries to do a little pasta dance there in the NE, but for me all that does is detract from from the only really interesting Down in the whole puzzle. Nothing really wrong with this puzzle (besides the repulsive 1-Across). And it opens so badly-with a faux-chummy corporate slogan for a company whose dystopian "smart devices" essentially have much of the world voluntarily treating a powerful surveillance company like a friendly household assistant-that the puzzle would've needed a whole lot of oomph to recover. Not enough marquee punch to really get off the ground. Two good answers ( "THE SKY'S THE LIMIT!" / "YOU WON'T REGRET IT!") with a lot of Yawn in between. |
